From BOTZ...
We remember tasting Tarkhun for the first time. A BOTZ friend took Danny to a Georgian restaurant on the outskirts of Moscow. As you know, BOTZ is rather obsessed with Green River, so we expected the flavor to be global in nature when the bright green Tarkhun was poured into a glass in front of us. Lemon-lime kick incoming, right? Wrong. Instead, we experienced the sweetest tarragon herbal blast. A new pop (Midwest) propelled itself to the top of our tier list. Imagine our joy when we tasted the same intense and unique sweetness in combination with bourbon-canned-peach ripeness? Enter Gitwe.
When they’re right, we’ll go out on a limb and say washed bourbon lots from Burundi are by far the queens of peachiness. For us, Ethiopian peach tends to lean a bit lighter and crisper. Burundi peach feels like a glop of peach cobbler goo. It’s heavy and melds into a date sweetness with orange blossom florals.
On the cupping table, we find Gitwe to offer a dense blood orange acidity, heavy peach notes, and a profound date sweetness. The finish is unique - we get notes of maple syrup with a zesty Tarkhun kick. If you can, get your hands on Tarkhun and give it a go!
